Following the events in Ukraine since this morning, February 24 2022, EU Heads of State and Government are meeting tonight at 20:00. It is widely expected that new sanctions will be decided, in addition to the measures already announced yesterday following the “recognition of the non-government controlled areas of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts in Ukraine as independent entities, and the ensuing decision to send Russian troops into these areas” (see https://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/PDF/?uri=OJ:L:2022:042I:FULL&from=EN).
